As of July 1st 2011 we have DISCONTINUED the sale of Kona Coast pancake mix.After several complaints about leaking canisters we consider this product no longer suited for shipping due to a construction weakness of the canister. When obtaining this product in a store, check the bottom of the canister for minor dents and leaks where the metal bottom lid is attached to the carton body. See picture taken at local supermarket in July 2011. Inspecting, extra packaging, re-shipping and refunds have become too costly for us. Mahalo for understanding. |

Poke (pronounced 'po-keh') means to slice or cut. Ahi is Hawaiian for Tuna fish comprising yellowfin, bluefin and bigeye. Aku is a small tuna (6 to 8 pounds) and has a light-colored meat similar to yellowfin. The Japanese call this fish "Katsuo". |

Pupu Recipe - What you need: 1 pkg. Hawaiian Poke Mix. 1 lb. of fish aku, ahi-tuna yellowfin, swordfish, 2 teaspoons sesame seed oil, water. Cut or dice raw fish into 3/4 inch by 3/4 inch squares. Remove ogo (seaweed) from package and place in a bowl. Cover with water. Let stand for 2-3 minutes. Remove ogo from water and cut into 1/2 inch pieces. Place cut fish in a bowl and sprinkle ogo over fish. Add 2 teaspoons of sesame seed oil. Add Hawaiian Poke package and mix well. Serve same day. For added flavor and color, add chopped green onions. |
Other Suggested Uses: Tako (octopus) Poke: Cut cooked octopus into 1/8 inch slices and follow directions left. Tofu Poke: Use 1 lb. of tofu (drain from water) and follow directions on the left. Ingredients: Hawaiian salt, ogo (a type of seaweed), sesame seed, chili pepper. |
